is a business division which is
functioned as a normal tours & travel operator. The bureau plans, organize
and operate our products with profit orientation goals to support the funding
of our organization.
The Bureau runs both Business to
Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C) distribution of our products,
surely through proper different channels.
The Store
is a business division which solely
support operation of our product by supplying best quality gears and equipments
for all travelers.
The store also sells merchandise,
gears and equipments to support the funding of our organization
The Forum
is a non-profit divisions and
functioned as information management center of our organization where every
team member can share every information related to our activities and
operation.
The latest news related to
National Parks and mountains in Indonesia
is provided by The Forum as well as guarantee smooth information traffic
between The Bureau and our customers as our after-sales service.
The Forum also provides virtual
discussion room for anyone concerns about responsible-green- tourism issues as
well as promoting our travel style which adapt the principles of nature
conservation.
The Team
is a division functioned as
operators of our products. The Team members are spread-out at Eights main
regions in Indonesia
and have direct contact with every travelers who join our products.

We offer vast range of packages
to explore the archipelago but mainly we can classified to three main category
Tours
Like ordinary travel style, participant
will be accompanied by a local tour leader to visit several objects and usually
the trip will follow a certain sequence route. In each object visited, there
will be a local guide to escort and explain the object attractions to
participant
Expedition
is a journey with special
interest to a certain area. Expedition usually has an exact objective to be
accomplished; e.g. expedition for a group of Volcanologists to conduct their
research, expedition of a group of Anthropologists visiting local tribe, or
just a group hiking a peak of a mountain.
Routes
is our idea to give flexibility
to participant to join our circular archipelago journey from any part of Indonesia
to any part of the archipelago. We have our tour leader travelling across
provinces in Indonesia and we published his schedule on our website, thus
participant can already know in which province he/she can meet our tour leader,
join the trip, and in which province the participant out of the circle trip.
Small Groups
& Free Independent Travellers
We design every of our package to
be viable to any of ecotourism principles, and one of the reason why we
maintain the size of every group to be necessarily small is in order to
minimize impacts of our visits and activities. The basic concept of ‘carrying
capacity’ of a natural area should not be exceeded to maintain natural resources
sustainability.

PAX
Pax is participant to each of our
package. Every participant will be an agent of environmental conservation, thus
we will share our operation standard for each of our package related to ethic
of outdoor activity to minimize possible negative impacts of the activity. We offer
every participant to deal with their own supplies; however, other types of
support are still available on request.
TANDEM
Most of our packages provide No
Guide and No Porter (unless necessary) in order to reduce the number of persons
entering fragile natural areas, but we provide our Tandem who deals with Trip
Management and Technical aspects which need to be considered for entering every
visited object. Tandem does not function as Guide or Porter substitution, but
will be participants’ travel-mate, and they will update progress of the trip to
The Bureau.
GRADING
In order to ensure the enjoyment
and responsible contribution to Indonesia’s
local life and nature resources, we classify all our packages into a grading
system with some parameters examined including age categories, level of fitness
and outdoor skills required, so participant may do self-examination based on
the parameters before choosing our package and explore it with us.

Friendly Tourism
‘Take nothing but pictures
(experience) and leave nothing but footprints’. The clause has inspired us to
design packages that will obviously apply principles in responsible tourism, to
be environmentally friendly, both to natural and social environment where our
activity will take place. We had set our operation procedures to maintain consistency
of our commitment to the principles application.
Lightweight
Expeditions
In accordance to efforts in
minimizing negative impacts on environments where our activities take place, we
apply lightweight expedition mode, and we implement it in every package. We
eliminate unnecessary activities, bring considerable amount of supply and
substitute application of natural resources e.g. we will not make any camp fire
in each of our packages, we suggest not to use porters for just bringing food
supply, and we will cook with a portable gas-cooker instead of using forest
wood.

Accommodations
Explore Indonesia will always do
it’s best to ensure using maximum local accommodations, like local family guest
house, local house, and other type of accommodation that is commonly used including
tent.
Meals
We introduce as much as possible
Indonesian culinary heritage as part of our local empowerment actions, however,
in some areas where local restaurant are not available, we encourage
participants to join our tandem in preparing their meals. This is an example of
situation that determine the word of ‘friendship and togetherness’ along every
of our packages.
Transportations
All of our packages offered will
optimize public transportation usage. We consider environment quality
degradation caused by pollution and more fuel (natural resources) consumption if
we provide private coaches or buses for participants, instead, we offer encounters
between participants and locals while they share the same public
transportation. It is another interesting and total experience of locals and
for us, by doing this way, can make us even closer to responsible tourism materialized
as it should be.
