History
The history of mountains and mountain ranges in Indonesia is more beyond
our science and knowledge, it is like germs spreads on green beautiful carpets.
Most of them have both side of the story – its glorious records and deep black
sorrow to surrounding life. Pre-history of Danau Toba was the glorious momment of Gunung Toba
which perhaps was towering higher than any mountain in Indonesia today, erupted and finally created the magnificent Danau Toba which is generation to generation treasure. While Gunung
Tambora and Krakatau fire complex was destroying anything in its pyroclastic turbulence
ways during its eruption back sometimes ago.
Lifetime grow – all mountains in Indonesia keep bellow soil and landscape
suitable for all crops that feed life in Indonesia; people, flora and fauna,
and further more it play very important roles to balance this planet
activities.
On the other hand, One mountain play very important roles to
surrounding people spiritual life and culture. Believing that people life and their
god is linked by mountain is well-passed generation to generation. Clearly
visible by all life activities bellow Gunung Bromo and Gunung Agung as two
famous examples.
All above brief was exactly like that while some other sides of history
always following.
Today
Mountains and mountain ranges in Indonesia mostly well kept by government
and local authorities to keep it in order as one of the prime pillars in
spiritual, culture, social, ecological and economical sides of the entire
nation.
While mature Indonesian generation stay on the side of preserving its
prime values, more and more youth are heading their life to mountain as purely
sport, recreation and special interest activity. Exploring self capabilities
and fitness by climbing mountain is anyone desire and for sure as ‘something
must try before going old’.
Along the way Indonesian government and citizens are more and more
aware that mountains and mountain ranges in Indonesia become this age lifestyle
and generate positive social and economical values for those related people as
a host or a visitor.
